About myself
I am 50 years old, married, with two kids. I live in Vantaa, in Sotunki village, which is one of the old rural areas of Vantaa.
I like reading a lot and I really do love doing everything with my hands. I also love the nature here in Vantaa and we regularly walk or ski in the forests of Sotunki and Sipoo. Going out to the nature is something that gives me strengh and joy.
Education and work history
I have an academic degree at the University of Helsinki, Master of Agriculture and Forestry. My main subject has been limnology, although I haven´t worked in the field for many years. I have done my main career in science communication and worked for Heureka, the Finnish Science Centre over twenty years. I have done exhibition planning, guidning, laboratory programmes for school groups, school marketing.
Currently I work at the communication department as a web editor. This interesting field gives me possibilities to learn new things every day, and I can hardly think any other job as interesting as mine! To know more and to be a better science communicator, I studied Science Communication at the University of Dalarna, Borlänge, Sweden.
I have been interested in politics from very early ages. I started as a member of the students´ association (Teiniliitto) when I was 13 years old. This organisation was very active during that time and was a good school to my future life in politics. I have belonged to Left Alliance ready from its founding, and earlier to its ancestors.
Today, I am the vice president of the local organisation of the Left Alliance in Vantaa. For years, I worked as the secretary of the organisation, and got to know all people and areas in Vantaa.
I am a member of the City Council in Vantaa, and the group leader of the Left Alliance councillors group. There are six in our group from 67 city councillors alltogether. I am also a vice member of the municipal executive board, and I do close co-operation with Matti Holopainen, who is the acting member.
The Left Alliance is a political movement formed by people desiring social change and a fair and equal development. The activities of the party are based on three core values - freedom, democracy and socially and ecologically sustainable development. Even if these are only words, I really believe that people can change the world.
My special interests are in environmental issues, social issues like the state of youngsters and old people. I am also interested in city planning: how could we make ecologically sustainable city areas where citizens have good to live. I am for equality in every means of it: between man and woman, between people with different ethnic background, between rich and poor, young and old. We are all different but still equal.
